Darcy’s Story

Darcy first came to Albany Creek Veterinary Surgery in May 2002 and has been a loyal patient with us since that time, despite in later years upping stumps and settling in rural Dayboro to watch cows slowly meander the fields Darcy still beats the tracks to Albany Creek.  

Darcy has in his years achieved titles in sheep herding, obedience and conformation. He is an ex Australian champion and sired puppies in Australia and Germany; just recently becoming a grandfather to Victorian puppies – those are some real achievements Darcy. Congratulations.

Darcy has overcome and beaten plenty of moments of truth – he has obedience and2 paralysis ticks; and survived with treatment, he has in later years battled bladder problems which has been resolved with the help of Metacam, which many will know as a painkiller for arthritis – it can also help to slow the progression of bladder cancers and has helped in Darcy’s case. He has had 2 eye surgeries, gets a regular cartrophen injection to keep him mobile and more recently receives daily codeine linctus to manage a chronic cough.

These days after reaching those lofty heights he is more inclined to take a morning walk in the paddock to check the horses and cows.
